Karen

There was an interesting quote about Karen on the board today. Not repeatable on a family-friendly blog like this, though I’m sure many of you would agree with it.
A workout like Karen is really about managing the work/rest ratio. You simply won’t be able to get through 150 wall balls without breaking it up so how you choose to do that is an important factor. Most people set a target for each piece, usually 5 or 10 reps then rest. Keeping sets small and manageable is preferable to going to failure. Rationing your rest was important too. I like to count my breaths, meaning when I put the weight down I start counting exhales, when I reach 5 I go back to it regardless of how I feel. It seems to work well. Watching the clock for, say, 10 seconds would also work.
Props to Mandee who did it prescribed and was adamant about getting the ball to the line. She must have done an extra 100 throws because of it, but she got through and got the Rx next to her name.

So, I see were back to the old ways? I like this better. Anyway Karen kicked my butt! I think its the heat!
Morgan- Are you having Thailand flashbacks, I know you love this weather. LOL
One thing I learned today was I really need to work on my form for wall-balls. My time showed that. I wasn’t that tired, I just couldnt put the catch and squat together. Only took one rep to the face though and not twenty, like I thought. Great form jason by the way!
Oh yea, anyone going to the MtRainer strongman competition this sat? Evening magazine aired the story last night and it was pretty touching.
