Take a Load Off
Jamie
It’s week 5 of the strength progression which means it’s a de-loading week. This is the second time through the five week cycle and I’m dying to know how it’s working for you. I have formed my own opinions on the program and specifically how it fits into our grand scheme, but I really need to know what you think.
Are you getting stronger is the most important question. A strength program that doesn’t make you stronger is at best a waste of time. Are you injured? Bored? Motivated? Excited? Sleepy? Let me know because I want to continue to evolve our programming. It’s not like I’m facebook friends with any one strength program (I say facebook friends because that is a big commitment to me). We can and should make adjustments to meet your specific needs. Talk to me.

I like the strength program but I do miss working on dynamic lifts like Cleans and snatches. I know they have been optional but sometimes I dont have the time to stay.
I have enjoyed the strength program too. I am curious to see if my strength has improved. My gut feeling is that my “stronger” lifts–deadlift and squat–improved, but my “weaker” lifts–press and bench–not so much. Not sure though.
Overall, I appreciate the concept of a grander programming scheme like the strength program we’ve been doing. I know Crossfit embraces “randomness”, but I am convinced there is also a place for more defined programming to get the various performance measures (strength, power, speed, endurance etc.) from point A to point B for each individual. Maybe, particularly for metcons, the programming can be “invisible” to the trainee (i.e., appear random when you show up each day), but actually be carefully mapped out by the trainer(s) to maximize performance improvements.
On a totally separate topic…holy crap!…a scoop of Aroy-D Coconut Cream and a handful of frozen blueberries tastes like heaven! Good stuff!
The strengh program is great, I’m adding weight and lifting it! So it must be working. Can’t seem to get beyond 105 on my press though. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
