The article mentions bodyweight overhead squats for 15 reps as a sort of benchmark. That sounds like and intriguing/worthwhile goal to work on.

Katie Hoyt is my cousin and fellow crossfitter. I remember when she first drank the koolaid and I started getting this stream of texts about how much lifted, her goal to get a kipping pullup. I was in heaven. I had started crossfit a few months before her. She has come so far and done amazing work.

Nice work cuz!

I am so happy for you, Katie! It was great to read your profile here and I'm glad you found crossfit! How lucky you are to be working with people that make you feel welcome. You have always had that same personality. I too, am doing crossfit and I love it also. Keep up the great work. Love you...Misha

Katie, thank you for sharing and keep up the good work, You have a lot heart, I'm always awe struck everytime you work on your pull ups. You never give up, you keep on fighting to get your chin above the bar. It's an honor to work out with you.

What influenced me was my first year of living in an apartment in college when I had to start making my own meals. A roommate liked to cook and in our house being able to make a good meal became something to aspire to. A little support, accountability, and competition was all it took to make me want to be a better cook.

So true Brianne. Eating Paleo for the past 2 years has allowed me to learn to REALLY cook for the first time in my adult life. When you are eating whole foods you learn to embrace experimenting which is really what cooking is all about!

Salatin is a genius. I love that man and what he does. It's true. I went to college with a few kitchen skills and impressed my friends with my ability to sautee zucchini and knowledge of boiling eggs. I didn't know that rice cookers and contraptions to "boil" eggs in the microwave even existed. My mom made everything from scratch. Most of the people I met in college had been raised with these contraptions and the tv dinner was the usual in their homes. Bleh.

The more time you spend preparing your food, the better the quality of the food consume. Slower food, always better.
