Competitions

As most of you know, a state-wide competition will be taking place at the end of this month, the 27th and 28th. We don’t know what the events will be, and may not know until the day of the competition. But you can expect 2-4 events per day running across a wide variety of durations and movements. This is Crossfit after all.
I’ve talked to many of you already, but if you’ve been sitting on the fence, I’d encourage you to take the plunge. Try it. Having something to train for does wonders for your performance. Plus it’s fun in a weird kind of way. Several people who went to watch last year came away wishing they had entered. This weekend is serving as a selection process for the next big region-wide competition in mid-May. The top 20 men and 20 women will be allowed to participate in May. But even if you have no hope of qualifying in the top 20, it’s a great experience and challenge.

If you know that competing is out, you can come watch and cheer yourself hoarse, or better yet, you can volunteer. Crossfit is growing amazingly fast, but it is still dependent on the willingness of participants to help out. The organizer for this event is Jesse Ward who runs Crossfit Lynnwood. Jesse sent this email out today:
We’re asking for help! We need more volunteers for the upcoming Washington Sectionals for the CrossFit Games. It’s kind of a big deal. The event has 152 registered athletes as of right now and we’re running a two day competition for them inside the 53,000 square foot main hangar at the Evergreen State Fairgrounds in Monroe. There will be hundreds and hundreds of spectators and lots of barbell throwing, med ball slamming action!!
Here’s what we need:
Judging (Sat and Sun)
Set-Up Crew (Friday mostly)
Parking Crew (AM Sat and Sun)
Security Detail (Exit monitoring Sat and Sun)
Tear-Down Monsters (Sunday PM)
Clean-Up Saints (Saturday PM)If you could email me back with “Jesse, dude this is awesome! I can help [insert days] with the [insert desired position(s)]. Let me know who my team lead is. Thanks!” that would be phenomenal. If you know people who should get this email that didn’t, haven’t or won’t for whatever reason PLEASE forward it to them and hopefully they can help out. If you’re already competing and hence cannot help out, please disregard entirely and train like an animal instead!
Thanks a ton!
